Theo is depressed following the breakdown of the band, and Leah is concerned that he’s wasting his days away in bed. She encourages her nephew – he’s young and talented with the world at his feet. Buoyed by this exchange, Theo tries his luck getting Mackenzie to book him for a solo gig at Salt. She declines, but not before Eden overhears their exchange. Hurt, she accuses him of abandoning Lyrik. Just like Kirby did.
Later, Eden is forced to order water over beer when her lack of income stream catches up with her. Mac offers her a shift or two at Salt if she needs it, but Eden maintains she’s not a charity. And besides, she’s not looking for another job right now. She still hasn’t given up on Lyrik.
Tane receives news from Nikau – his mum’s been in an accident and broken her leg and collarbone, and Nikau is flying out from New York to be with her. With family always his priority, Tane feels the pull to go to New Zealand and be with his nephew and sister-in-law, but reasons with Felicity that it’s too soon after her assault for him to leave her. Felicity counters – her attacker is in jail, and he’s plead guilty. She’s got to move on with her life, and she’s not going to let the assault hang over her forever. Go and be with your family.
But after Tane leaves, her face falls, and later she admits to Eden – she’s not okay. She got a phone call yesterday, and her attacker wants to meet with her.
