As revealed by Metro.co.uk in July, Coronation Street is saying farewell to actor Chris Gascoyne but promises that the door will be left open for a possible return in the future.
Unfortunately, this means the end of Peter Barlow’s time on the cobbles for now, and with Carla Barlow (Alison King) staying put with a new storyline and family member, it seems another couple aren’t getting a happy ending – much deserved though after everything this pair have been through.
New images filmed on location, and due to be broadcast on Boxing Day, show the exit as Peter Barlow boards a tram and leaves Weatherfield behind.
Peter’s recent troubles on screen have seen him face a possible murder charge after he mowed down and killed serial killer Stephen Reid. Although, he is now in the clear for this, the impact of that will continue to have a huge effect on the recovering alcoholic in the weeks ahead.
Elsewhere, Carla is currently in Spain fighting to try and save Underworld from closure after Stephen tricked Michael into signing over the money from the business account. With Peter being supported by Toyah in Carla’s absence – will this lead to more than just friendship ahead of his exit?
