With Haz planning to leave, Mackenzie is doing her best to hide how sad this is making her. Despite Holly’s insistence that she fight to make him stay, she’s not convinced it’s the right move. However, when Holly’s unavailable to take Trevor to the hospital to visit Haz, Mackenzie’s the one who ends up doing it. This gives Haz’s sister Amira a good view into their relationship, and after a spray from Holly about splitting the couple apart, Amira concedes the couple have a strong bond. While Amira is coming to this realization, Mackenzie tells Haz she wants him to stay. This is clearly the thing he wants to hear most and Haz comes clean to Amira. He wants to stay and make things work with Mackenzie. Amira is happy to abide by Haz’s decision, but announces she will be sticking around until she’s sure he’s okay.
In the wake of Vic’s admission, Nicolette and Byron both struggle with the news. While Nicolette rallies around Vic, Byron disappears. This leaves Sadie worried that he’s upset she knew about it the whole time, but after a lot of angst Byron admits he’s not handling the news very well. He keeps his cards close to his chest until Aaron encourages him to go home and see his Dad. There he’s unable to hold everything in and explodes at his Dad, angry at everything he’s done.
Leo struggles with trying to find staff for Yorokobi. When Cara finds out about this, she offers up JJ – wanting him to keep busy until he goes back to school. But Leo’s not keen, worried that JJ will cause trouble. It’s a conversation with Toadie and Terese where they assure him sometimes troubled teens turn into successful adults that convinces him to give the kid a shot. But when Toadie and Terese arrive home, they find Nell avoiding her homework and hanging out with JJ. Perhaps Toadie’s spoken too soon?
