Coronation Street legend Helen Worth is set to leave the soap after 50 years, following a dramatic exit storyline later this year.
Worth, who plays Gail Rodwell, has made the decision to step down from her role, marking the end of an era for the long-running show.
She has been a mainstay on Coronation Street since her debut in 1974, and has been at the heart of some of the soap’s most iconic storylines.

Executive Producer Iain Macleod paid tribute to Worth, calling her a “legend” and an “icon”. He said that her character Gail has been “a huge part of Coronation Street for five decades” and that she will be sorely missed.
Worth’s exit storyline is sure to be a tear-jerker, and fans will be eager to see how her character is written out of the show.
Coronation Street viewers will be sad to see Helen Worth leave the cobbles, but they will no doubt be grateful for the many years of entertainment she has provided.
