Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle is set to face a terrifying ordeal as actress Eden Taylor-Draper reveals a shocking pregnancy twist.
In upcoming scenes, Belle secretly takes a pregnancy test at the surgery and confides in nurse Wendy about her fears. “She feels apprehensive,” says Taylor-Draper, “It’s not what she wants, but she’s worried because she knows it’s the only thing Tom wants.”
Belle tries to hide the truth from Tom, but a tense confrontation erupts when he suspects she’s bad-mouthing him to her family. “It’s an awful scene,” reveals Taylor-Draper, “He’s about to hit her when she blurts out she’s pregnant.”
Tom’s reaction is chilling. “He’s delighted,” says Taylor-Draper, “He bursts into tears.” However, Belle’s hope for a positive change is dashed. “She tries to talk to him, but he thinks it’s the perfect time.”
Tom’s controlling nature tightens its grip as he shares the news prematurely, leaving Belle feeling trapped. “She knew he would do this,” explains Taylor-Draper, “She’s aghast when everyone congratulates her.”
A disturbing incident leaves Belle questioning her reality. “She discovers she’s locked in the house,” says Taylor-Draper, “She doubts herself, unsure if Tom did it deliberately.”
Taylor-Draper emphasizes the importance of the storyline: “We did a lot of research. It’s alarming how common this is. It’s vital to portray it accurately.”
Viewers have already seen glimpses of Tom’s manipulative behaviour. “He’s very good at making her think she’s in the wrong,” says Taylor-Draper. “She blames herself and doesn’t realise the extent of his control.”
The actress reveals the emotional toll of filming such intense scenes. “We clear our heads by laughing afterwards,” she says, “But the messages from viewers are powerful. If it helps one person, that’s amazing.”
