Callum Highway has had a bit of a rollercoaster year in EastEnders, and things aren’t about to slow down. Actor Tony Clay chats about what’s next for Callum, including his suspicions of Sharon and Linda.

“It’s been a bit of a storm for him,” Clay said. “He’s trying to distract himself, and he’s trying to be there for Lexi and everything that she’s got going on.”

This week, Callum fails to invite Phil to Ben’s prison call, but Sharon persuades him otherwise.

“I think it is a genuine oversight,” Clay explained. “There’s no animosity between the pair, and I think they both feel like they’re in this together.”

However, Callum’s suspicions are piqued after a conversation with Linda in The Vic.

“Linda makes a comment about Dean that Callum thinks is a bit suss,” Clay revealed. “The policeman part of Callum also doesn’t want anything untoward happening.”

Callum then confides in Sharon, but her reaction only deepens his doubts.

“There is a part of him that does turn a bit of a blind eye to it because he doesn’t want to see anything happen to Sharon and Linda,” Clay said. “But equally he’s throwing himself into his work and so he’s going on every single lead.”

Clay confirmed that Callum’s investigation is a way to distract himself from his feelings about Ben’s absence.

“Johnny and Jack both know about Christmas and what happened with The Six, and they both try in their own ways to deter Callum from going any further in his investigation,” Clay said. “There’s a really nice scene between Callum and Johnny where Callum opens up and admits that he does miss Ben.”
