Moira Dingle’s world is set to unravel this week on Emmerdale as she fights desperately to free her son Matty from prison, putting her marriage to Cain Dingle at serious risk.

With the couple at odds, the Dingles rally around the injured Samson, leaving Moira to battle for Matty’s innocence alone. The strain on her relationship with Cain reaches a boiling point. “Moira and Cain come face to face – and he nearly hits her!” reveals Natalie J Robb, who plays the distraught mother. “She tries to push him to the point of showing some sort of reaction to what’s going on with Matty, to try provoking him into backing her up. It’s a very uncomfortable moment.”

Moira’s distress peaks when she visits Matty in prison and witnesses his dire situation firsthand. “Moira is terrified for Matty,” Natalie confesses. “What she doesn’t understand is that if anyone gets wind that Matty is trans, they’ll turn against him. He hasn’t dared to shower because he’s so scared…”

Meanwhile, Cain attempts to persuade Samson to tell the truth but fails. Moira, convinced of Samson’s deceit, takes drastic measures. “Moira knows that Samson is lying,” shares Natalie. “Seeing Matty in this place where he doesn’t belong makes her realise the importance of trying to get him out as soon as possible.”

Isolated from the rest of the Dingles, Moira corners Samson, desperate for the truth. “Moira wants to take matters into her own hands because she feels all alone,” sighs Natalie. “She slips into the Woolpack toilets and follows Samson to get the truth. But she ends up threatening him!”

Cain warns Moira that her actions could jeopardize Matty’s case, leading to a heated confrontation. “They start to argue,” Natalie admits. “Cain thinks she’s gone too far and made the situation worse. Moira stuck by him with Kyle, and she doesn’t feel the same back in return…”

The argument escalates, pushing Cain to get drunk, which leads to a volatile clash between the couple. “Moira doesn’t have the time for it,” Natalie reveals. “She tries to make him angry; this is something she won’t forget. It’s unforgivable what Samson is doing and the fact the family is supporting him…”

Amidst the chaos, Moira might find an unexpected ally in Kerry, who secretly records Samson’s accomplice Josh at the Woolpack. Will their plan work in time to save Matty?
