Carla and Swain ‘Swarla’ as dubbed by the fandom has proved a very popular talking point since the pair began sharing more scenes together over the last few months
Coronation Street’s Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa Swain, has expressed her surprise and delight at the fan response to the friendship between her character and Carla Connor, portrayed by Alison King.
Speaking about the unexpected popularity of the Swarla fans, Vicky shared her thoughts on the social media frenzy. “Yeah, I was surprised by that. I think it’s really lovely that people are invested in it,” she said.
The actress revealed that she receives numerous edits and clips from fans, especially on TikTok, despite admitting she’s “absolutely useless at TikTok” and doesn’t post anything herself. Instead, she relies on her co-star Sydney, who plays Betsy, to keep her updated with the latest fan creations.
Vicky admitted, “I’m very, very grateful for them doing that. I think it would be nice for Swain to have a friend in Carla. I think there’s a lot of similarities between them.”
