FOR WEEK COMMENCING 26th AUGUST
Next week on Coronation Street, tension skyrockets as Nick and Toyah attempt to enjoy their final day together. However, their plans are derailed when Leanne and Sam return home unexpectedly, leading to a dramatic confrontation.
In a bid to persuade Amy to invest in the controversial resource centre, Leanne seeks out Rowan. She is blindsided when Rowan advises her to press Amy to relive her traumas during an upload session, hoping it will sway her investment decision. Shockingly, Amy discovers Rowan has been recording her deeply personal confessions, including her traumatic experiences and criminal past. Despite her intent to speak to Ken about releasing her inheritance, Ken is not supportive.
The intensity ramps up during Amy’s “malware session,” a misguided attempt at psychological cleansing. Amy, blindfolded and surrounded by hostile members of the institute, is bombarded with insults, causing her severe distress. Leanne, who reassured Amy about the session’s benefits, faces scrutiny from Tracy and Nick, who confront Rowan at the Chariot Square Hotel. Tracy threatens to expose Rowan’s tactics in the Gazette, while Rowan manipulates Leanne, arguing that her loyalty to the institute must come first.
Elle Mulvaney, who portrays Amy, reveals the mounting pressure on her character. “Amy feels cornered by Rowan’s manipulative tactics and Leanne’s insistence. She starts to believe that investing is her only option, despite previously deciding against it,” Elle explains.

The actress also addresses the dark side of Leanne’s actions. “Leanne isn’t completely innocent; she’s been guided by Rowan and has passed on his manipulative strategies,” Elle adds. “Leanne knows Amy’s vulnerabilities and uses that knowledge to coerce her.”
Reflecting on Amy’s tumultuous relationship with her parents, Elle says, “Amy has always lived in a dysfunctional family. With Tracy away and Steve struggling, Amy feels isolated and overwhelmed. This has led her to trust figures like Leanne, who seem to offer stability.”
As for Amy’s reaction to the malware session, Elle reveals, “It was a shock to Amy. The script was intense, and filming it was surreal. I wanted to capture the raw discomfort and disorientation Amy feels.” She describes the session as a horrifying experience, “Amy is blindfolded, surrounded by hostile voices, and feels utterly vulnerable.”
Mulvaney concludes by hinting at the long-term impact on Amy’s relationship with Leanne. “Amy will struggle to trust Leanne again. Despite Leanne’s intentions, Amy will always view her actions as a betrayal.”

Tune in next week to see how Amy’s harrowing experience will reshape her future and her relationships on Coronation Street.
