On 16 October, fans of the beloved S4C show are in for a treat with an hour-long anniversary episode packed with drama – including a wedding, a funeral, and even the return of a familiar face to Cwmderi.
In honour of this major milestone, S4C is pulling out all the stops. Not only will viewers witness life-changing moments for the residents of Cwmderi, but fans can also vote on their favourite episodes from the show’s five decades. The winning episodes will air throughout the week, giving long-time viewers a chance to relive some of the soap’s most unforgettable moments.

Veteran actress Sera Cracroft, who has played Eileen since 1989, expressed her gratitude to the show’s loyal audience, saying: “Thank you to everyone for watching Pobol y Cwm over the last 50 years… It’s a series that succeeds in bringing Welsh speakers and non-Welsh speakers together. And I’m very proud to have been part of it for so long.”
Fans can also look forward to behind-the-scenes celebrations, with exclusive set tours of Cwmderi available this October. Tickets are already on sale for those wanting a glimpse of the iconic streets and homes of their favourite characters.
Reflecting on the show’s legacy, Lisabeth Miles, who has played Megan Harries since the very first episode, said: “Megan and I have been living side by side for fifty years now!
