The Platts are set for more explosive drama on Coronation Street this week as tensions rise over Gail’s new romance, Nick’s complicated love life, and David’s secret money stash, with actors Jack P. Shepherd and Ben Price giving insight into the turmoil ahead.

As Nick (Ben Price) and Leanne (Jane Danson) divide up their belongings, Sam (Jude Riordan) is left struggling. Nick is weighed down by guilt over how things ended. Ben explains, “Nick feels awful. He lost his own father, and after Natasha’s death, he really tried to provide stability for Sam. For Sam, losing Leanne feels like losing a mum all over again, and Nick knows he’s to blame for that. “While Nick’s love for Leanne remains, their relationship is well and truly over. Ben reveals, “Part of Nick still loves her, but it’s finished. When Leanne went to the institute, that was the moment it ended for him.”

Amidst the heartbreak, sparks could fly between Nick and Leanne’s sister, Toyah (Georgia Taylor). Nick offers to help Toyah move into her new home, and Price admits, “Yes, I think he genuinely loves her. It’s a deeper connection, not just physical – it grew when they supported each other through tough times like Toyah’s cancer. He’s being genuine with her.”

Meanwhile, David (Jack P. Shepherd) is reeling from Gail’s (Helen Worth) new relationship with Jesse (John Thomson), particularly given Jesse’s past with Eileen. Jack says, “David’s suspicious. Gail’s history with men hasn’t been great, and now Jesse’s timing – right after she’s taken out a loan for Bethany – makes David think he’s after the money.”

David’s protective instincts kick into overdrive when Carla (Alison King) shows interest in buying the Platts’ family home. Jack teases, “David nearly arm-wrestles the ‘For Sale’ sign off the estate agent! He’s not happy. It all leads to Gail collapsing from the stress.”

“We’re all terrified when we hear Gail’s in the back of an ambulance,” Jack reveals. “David blames himself. He feels guilty for all the stress he’s caused her, especially with the house.”

Things take an even darker turn when David realises Jesse has found the stash of dirty money hidden in the house. “Jesse shows up with the money and says, ‘Looking for this, sunshine?’ David knows Jesse now has this over him.

Despite the turmoil, Jack had a blast filming with Cold Feet legend John Thomson. “It’s been great working with him. He’s slotted right in with the Platts, and we’ve had a laugh.”

But with Gail’s health in danger and secrets starting to unravel, will the Platt family manage to hold it together, or is more heartbreak on the horizon? It looks like Sarah (Tina O’Brien) may once again have to step up and be the glue that holds the family together, with Jack adding, “David’s got a lot going on with Shona, and the secret about Damon’s money. It’ll be down to Sarah to pull everyone together – as always.”
