It’s the season to be jolly, and on EastEnders, lovebirds Eve and Suki prepare to tie the knot, but in true Walford style, their happiness comes with a side of chaos.
Eve actress Heather Peace says: ‘She’s the love of her life, and it’s the start of forever for Eve. The start of forever with a clear road and no lies. It’s a dream come true, definitely.’
For Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki, she shares that it’s a pivotal moment: ‘She can’t believe she’s finally allowed herself to invite a little bit of happiness. But in true soap style, nothing goes smoothly.’
The Panesar family drama looms large, with Nish’s escape from prison casting a shadow over the celebrations. ‘Nish isn’t someone to let things lie,’ says Balvinder. ‘If he gets wind of this, he has the potential to destroy everything.’
Of course, no Walford wedding would be complete without a touch of chaos. Heather teases: ‘Absolutely not, it will all be completely plain sailing because that’s how Walford weddings always go! [Laughs]’
The couple’s joint hen-do at Harry’s Barn promises laughter and camaraderie. ‘Whenever you get all the girls together, we just have a scream,’ Heather reveals.
As for their outfits, both actors worked closely with the wardrobe team to bring magic to the screen. Heather describes Eve’s look: ‘She’d always wear a suit, but we added some sparkles and a feminine twist with a halter neck under the jacket. The peacock feather lapel matched perfectly with Suki’s dress.’

Balvinder gushes about Suki’s outfit: ‘It’s a blue Anarkali dress with peacock feathers in the flowers, tying everything together beautifully.’
Despite the looming drama, the cast had a blast filming. Balvinder recalls: ‘Drama follows the Panesars everywhere, but this wedding also has beauty, love, and edge-of-your-seat moments.’
Heather sums it up: ‘Love, chaos, and romance – it’s what New Year’s in Walford is all about.’
