EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One

Lacey Turner is back in the Christmas spotlight, and she couldn’t be more excited.

The complicated relationship between Stacey and Martin takes center stage again, with tensions flaring as Ruby remains a thorn in Stacey’s side. ‘Stacey’s always had feelings for Martin, but it never seems to work when they’re together,’ Lacey explained. ‘Seeing Ruby with him has made her realise those feelings are still there, though she doesn’t trust Ruby at all.’

‘Being part of the Christmas storyline is always special,’ she said. ‘EastEnders at Christmas is a tradition, and the episodes are always dramatic and explosive.’ On whether Stacey and Martin are meant to be, Lacey likened them to another iconic TV duo. ‘They’re like Ross and Rachel. They want to be together, but it never seems to work out. I’d love to see them grow old together, but who knows?’

Christmas in Albert Square may be intense, but Lacey has simpler plans for her own festive break. ‘Hopefully, I’ll be on the sofa, doing nothing as dramatic as what’s happening on the show!’

When asked who she’d invite to Christmas dinner, Lacey didn’t hesitate: ‘Pat and Peggy. They’re icons. I’d love to see them have a good old row at the table!’

With the Square decked out for the holidays, Lacey cherishes the festive atmosphere on set. ‘Walking up to the Square for a night shoot feels magical. You really feel the history, and I love it.’
