Coronation Street fans are in for a treat as Julie Carp is set to return to the cobbles next month after almost a decade away. Julie, played by Katy Cavanagh, will arrive back in Weatherfield on February 21, marking the start of Eileen’s exit storyline.

Speaking about her return, Katy said: ‘It is exciting to dust off Julie’s quirky wardrobe again and an absolute joy to step back onto the cobbles. Julie is so much fun, I’ve missed her.’

Eileen and Todd will be over the moon to see Julie again, but questions linger about her reasons for returning. Is she back for good? And how will her former flame Brian react to her sudden reappearance?

Producer Kate Brooks teased: ‘We’re delighted to have the inimitable Julie Carp back on the cobbles. As the ever lovable Julie breezes back into the lives of the Grimshaws, not everything is quite as it seems, and Julie’s secret sets off a chain of events that has huge ramifications for Eileen. Katy has slipped back into Julie’s shoes with such ease that it’s like she’s never been away, and we can’t wait for the audience to watch Julie’s story unfold; a story full of love, laughter and tears.’

Julie first graced Weatherfield in 2008 after a holiday romance with Kirk that fizzled out. Things took a dramatic turn when she set her sights on Jason, only to discover she was actually Eileen’s half-sister and Jason’s aunt. Julie later found love with Brian, but the pair parted ways after leaving the street together in 2015.
