Remi walks Sonny along the beach, determined to be by his side as he deals with the break-up and the remaining withdrawal symptoms, but Sonny turns the other way when they see Tane in the distance. Back at home, Remi arrives with a coffee for Sonny who is determined not to leave home – for fears of running into Tane.
Remi approaches Tane, asking him to cut Sonny some slack but Tane’s impatient, blaming Sonny and his association with Beau for Harper having to uproot and leave Summer Bay, taking their son with her. When Remi returns, unsuccessful, Sonny has begun work on his CV, and bounces ideas off Remi to enhance it. Remi’s pleased but convinces Sonny to face up to Tane and clear the air.
However, Tane is barely willing to hear out Sonny’s authentic apology and makes his stance clear – if you can’t get my son back, then we’re done. Back at home, Sonny feels awful and wants Remi to land in a good place with Tane, even if Sonny never will, but Remi goes to Tane with another agenda in play. Remi’s grateful for the room but he’s moving out of Tane’s place and in with Sonny, because his mate needs him.
Mackenzie gets the update that Levi, Cash and herself are not a stem cell donor match for Eden. John listens sympathetically before she heads off to join Cash and the Fowler siblings. Cash is making sure Eden’s not overtired, but she’s determined to stay out to see Mackenzie. Meanwhile Abigail begs Levi to bend the rules and get her tested in case she’s a match. However, Levi knows that’s impossible and reinforces their best course of action is to be there for their sister. As Abigail steps away, Eden is left alone with Levi and asks him to level with her.
Now that they’ve confirmed nobody in the inner circle is a match, what are her chances of getting through this? Levi focuses his answer on hope the immunosuppressant therapy will kick in and buy them enough time to find someone. There are people signing up every day and miracles happen… but Eden is not so sure. Mackenzie arrives, sharing her own and Tane’s thoughts for them all.
Then, she follows Cash inside where he shares a memory from his childhood, of being sent away while his father was taking care of his very sick mother. He knows quality time with family needs to be treasured. Cash and Eden load back into the car and thank the others before they drive home. Waving them off, Mackenzie and Levi share a quiet word – Cash seemed terrified. And so did Eden.
Tane’s disheartened by Harper and Dana’s uncertain movements, and his hopes of them ending up back in Summer Bay disappear when John confirms they’ve locked in a rental. Tane gets the full update, and it turns out the new place is half a day’s drive away – and he’s agreed to help Harper move. Mackenzie and John try to help him see a silver lining, but Tane clarifies he’s not mad at Harper for any of this – there’s only one person to blame, and that’s Sonny. He’s unfazed when Remi explains he’s moving out and reinforces his lack of sympathy for Sonny.
