Home and Away airs on 5STAR at 6:30pm
While Justin’s geared up for he and Leah to head off to Martha’s party, a jealous John tries unsuccessfully to score an invite. Marilyn is pleased to look after the Diner while they’re gone – besides she wants to keep an eye on Zane. He’s been eagerly helping Mali around the board shop, and Mali will be taking him for some driving lessons. At the end of the shift, Marilyn passes Zane his large portion of tips, though Leah notes that Marilyn has added to it herself.
The next day after Justin and Leah have headed off, Zane arrives with a letter back from the Restorative Justice services, asking for Marilyn’s help to go through it. They’re both confused to have been sent a bunch of medical reports, highlighting that Heidi (Zane’s victim) has a brain injury that remains profound. Finally, there’s a single post-it note attached that states – we will never forgive you.
Back at the Diner, Zane admits he knows Marilyn’s been adding fake tips and expresses he doesn’t want her spending her own money. He also doesn’t want to talk about the letter. Later she finds him looking up definitions for all the medical jargon in the paperwork, and the permanent damage he has inflicted on the poor girl. He’s not ready to talk and leaves Marilyn with the papers. She notices on the paperwork some contact details for a next of kin to the victim named ‘Austin’.
Remi drops his stuff at Sonny’s place, proclaiming himself to be Sonny’s new flatmate. It’s going to be like old times, plus he will help Sonny cover the rent. Sonny’s worried about the damage this could do to Remi’s friendship with Tane, but Remi won’t hear it. They continue work on Sonny’s CV into the evening and Sonny confirms Remi as his reference – from when they worked on an independent record label together.
Tane knocks on the door, coming to grab Harper and Archie’s passports, and refuses to even acknowledge Sonny. Later, Remi and Sonny head to the Surf Club where Mali updates Remi that they’re yet to find a match for Eden, but also that she’s out of hospital. Learning this, suddenly Remi is feeling very out of the loop about his best friend.
Mackenzie arrives home to Levi, sitting in the dark. He’s feeling all the pressure of expectations that he can fix Eden’s situation. He’s struggling to help Abigail stay positive and keeping Eden hopeful even when she’s asking him if she’s going to die. The truth is – he has no idea how this whole thing is going to play out. Mackenzie tries to reassure him, but he has to field another inquisitive call from Jimmy (his dad), promising to keep him posted. Mackenzie wonders if it’s time Levi asks his parents to come and stay but he disagrees, figuring he just needs a good night’s sleep.
The next day as they arrive at Salt, Remi, Mali and Sonny have a barrage of questions for Levi about Eden and the process of signing up to see if they could be a match for Eden. He doesn’t have answers about Eden and can only encourage them to get tested, if not for Eden, to help someone else. Levi steps away and in private explains to Mackenzie the fact he doesn’t have the answers only emphasises how useless he is. Sonny persuades Mackenzie to let him help out while she’s understaffed and overwhelmed and she agrees – you’re hired. Then she finds a private space to call Jimmy – how soon could you get to Summer Bay?
