Harper and Tane are on edge as Levi explains their baby’s condition to them – he has a small cyst on his lung putting pressure on his organs. At worst, it could cause foetal heart failure. As Harper is wheeled off to undergo more tests, Tane confides in Levi – he had a nephew who died in infancy. Levi reassures him that the condition is not hereditary – there’s no way to know why this happened to them. Later, Levi tells Harper that she could have in-utero surgery to correct the issue, but not without the risk of premature labour. Harper’s emphatic as she fears for her unborn child – nobody is operating on her baby.
In a private moment with Tane, Harper tells him she knows he wants her to have the surgery, but she wouldn’t forgive herself if something went wrong. Tane reassures her though – this is her choice. At home however, Levi is surprised by a visit from Tane. He needs to know – what would Levi do if he were in their position??
Mali tells Kirby he’s decided to cancel the campaign for the board shop – he doesn’t want anything to do with the company that altered her likeness and then tried to charge him to correct it. Kirby’s grateful, but during a surf lesson later, Mali’s concerned when she snaps at a student for recording the class. Unable to finish the lesson, Kirby retreats, and Mali worries for her headspace. When they do talk, Kirby admits she doesn’t feel like herself, and she doesn’t want to be on the beach. In fact, she quits the board shop altogether, despite Mali’s protests. Can Kirby regain her confidence?
Not realising that Alf is onto them, Roo, Marilyn and John are still at pains to keep the new bait shop a secret. Roo even tries to ship him off to see Martha but Alf refuses – he has too much to do in Summer Bay, he tells them. Secretly, he’s delighting in watching them scramble to pull off a surprise, and even lets Roo offer to repaint the shed in her efforts to keep him in the dark. At a distance though, Marilyn has her eye on Mr Stewart. Is she onto him already?
