Monday

The dry heat of Queensland country sprawls across the land and tearing down the road are Ziggy and Mackenzie. They’re being forced to drive two escaped prisoners, one of whom holds a knife to Mackenzie’s throat. Dean and Levi, having witnessed them tear off, frantically check for mobile reception, or a vehicle to get help or go after them. Pressed for time, Dean breaks into a car and hotwires it. Levi watches on, conflicted, but jumps in with Dean, and they’re in pursuit. They deduce it’s two escaped prisoners who have taken their partners, but Dean doubles back when faced with a police blockade. Levi’s confused but Dean makes a good point – the police will be searching for two dodgy guys in a stolen car, and what are we?

Meanwhile, the pressure is on for Ziggy and Mackenzie as their captors force them to speed towards the border. Ziggy stalls, explaining she’s got morning sickness and is going to throw up. Mackenzie supports her, learning in that moment that it’s true – Ziggy is three months along with baby number two. The girls resolve to keep delaying as much as possible – hopeful Dean and Levi won’t be far behind. The prisoners disagree on the fate of the girls, and one abandons the car, hurting himself in the process. Dean and Levi come across him and it’s because of Levi’s compassion and Dean’s determination that the trail is still red hot.

Justin’s wearing his manager hat with pride for Kirby’s solo recording efforts. Remi is backing the recording, and they’ve found a swish studio where it can all come together. Remi also offers his own services – he doesn’t want to simply fund this recording – he wants to produce it. They pitch that Kirby should do a full album, but Kirby’s skeptical. They will need to get the rights to her old songs, but Justin and Remi are up for the challenge. Their meeting exposes Eden to the fact that Kirby’s pursuing her solo career again. Eden didn’t see that coming. She brave faces for Kirby but reveals to Remi her truth – it feels like everyone’s moving on, and she’s being left behind, taking out the trash.

Tuesday

Remi crashes Kirby’s writing session and she’s worried that they won’t be able to get her old song rights back, but Remi’s confident. Justin might need to spend an additional night in the city to tee it up, but they’re determined to make it happen.

Levi and Dean hound the prisoner for what his partner plans to do with Mackenzie and Ziggy – and he admits, his accomplice doesn’t plan on letting them live. They force him to guide them toward the border, and much to Levi’s dismay, force the prisoner into their car boot. Driving on, Dean spots, his abandoned car amongst the cane fields, and they approach with caution, hoping to find their loved ones…alive. The unwitting criminal backs out of a row of sugar cane, having left a trail of petrol across the field and about to set it all ablaze. Dean pounces, delivering a knockout headbutt. Immediately, Levi and Dean race through the sugar cane, saving Mackenzie and Ziggy from deep in the cane fields. Safely back at home, two police officers conduct a questioning and Levi insists on taking the fall. Even Dean’s mother Karen must admit – the doctor’s a bit of a surprise package. Levi supports Mackenzie when she finds herself overwhelmed following the day’s events and shares a beer with Dean. The sisters-in-law are grateful for each other, and Dean and Levi may not see eye to eye, but they do share a smile.

Kirby and Bree treat Rose to lunch for her last day at work. They grill her on all the things she needs to finalise before she goes – including saying goodbye to her ex-boyfriend, Mali. Kirby steps in to make that happen, and soon Mali turns up at the station, convincing Rose to take a quick break. They walk along the beach where Mali admits he’s learnt a lot since they used to date. Rose pressures him to admit he’s in love with Abigail, but Mali is coy – he doesn’t tell anything to cops. They part ways, wishing each other luck. That night, Rose completes her handover to Cash and they share a heartfelt farewell. As Rose drives away, ready to depart Summer Bay, she is ambushed by Kirby, Bree and Irene, delivering coffee, snacks, and a sweet goodbye to Detective Rose Delaney.

Wednesday

Summoned to a brawl outside the surf club, Cash arrives to intervene, sirens blazing. Eden, down from her shift at Salt is having no luck telling the unruly group to leave, and chaos continues as they chaotically push and shove one another. Cash and the police have to forcedly shut down the fight, and Cash places the ring leader of the group, Gage, under arrest. One of the girls (Lacey) tries to defend Gage, but when Eden speaks up, Cash pulls her away, flagging the tattoos they’ve both noticed – this group, and its leader are River Boys. In the station, Cash clashes with Gage who brings up Cash’s sister, a sore point. Cash gets little information, but is determined to learn more about the reports of street racing. He returns home while Eden helps ice his wounds, he gives words of encouragement over her feeling dejected over her career – he didn’t fall in love with a bass player, or a barmaid, he fell in love with her.

During the fight, Theo recognises Lacey from Gage’s warehouse and takes her for a drink. Though they’re both aware she‘s dating Gage, the chemistry between them is clear. After his arrest, Gage offers Sonny and Theo another job and the money is too good to turn down, especially as Sonny is trying to pay Remi back. At the tracks, cars drift and handfulls of money are exchanged. Sonny and Theo are greeted by Lacey, and then Gage, who orders them to work. When Gage learns one of his drivers has backed out, he gets cagey and short with Sonny and then Lacey. Theo steps up, volunteering himself as a replacement. He jumps in and gives Gage’s car a hefty rev, reminded by Gage – you break it, I break you. Engines are soon fired up and Theo sets off against another driver. It’s neck and neck, but Theo breaks through, victorious. Lacey is especially impressed and the two of them scurry away as another race commences. Finally they are alone and the heat is on….

Justin catches Marilyn on the phone pretending to be Roo. She‘s fishing for information on Eliza’s past. When she returns late from her break with a grave expression, she explains to both Leah and Justin that she visited Eliza’s former foster parents. They told Marilyn that they suspect it was Eliza who started the fire that destroyed their home and resulted in Eliza going back into foster care where she was taken in by Roo…

Thursday

Dana catches Tane wrapping up a boot camp and pulls him into gear – he’s dropped the ball on the wedding planning. They manage to get the flowers sorted, but Tane has to get back to work. Dana drowns her breakup woes at Salt, operating on the excuse Abigail is showing her what wines the venue has to offer for her sister’s wedding. One taste becomes many, and when Sonny arrives to flirt, Dana has had a lot to drink and Tane swoops in to take her home. Sonny’s amused, but also besotted. Dana drunkenly gives Tane insight behind Harper’s intense level of feelings for him.

Theo and Lacey emerge, pulling on clothes after their forbidden hookup. Sonny’s disapproval is cut short when Lacey’s boyfriend, and the leader of the River Boys, Gage, rounds the corner. Gage loads Theo up with payment, thanking him for saving his skin today. Theo’s excited – imagine how much more they could make if Theo was racing his own car! Sonny wants them to back out, sensing danger surrounding involvement with Gage and the potential for Theo to get caught with Lacey. Theo insists they’ll just be more careful, but Sonny’s had enough – he’s out.

Eliza convinces Roo to help her appeal to Tane’s youth program, but she’s angered when he doesn’t accept her back in. Furthermore, Tane confronts Roo – what’s it going to take to realise there’s something seriously wrong with Eliza? Meanwhile, Marilyn unpacks with Justin and Leah over her conversations with Eliza’s former foster family who are convinced Eliza was the cause of the fire. Roo’s skeptical but makes the phone call, and is persuaded to question Eliza. However, Eliza’s reaction is heartbreak over Roo’s doubt in her, which propels Roo against Marilyn. A saddened Marilyn heads to bed, startled by Eliza’s cold presence as she was eavesdropping on. Eliza’s turns to leave, bidding a chilling ‘goodnight, Marilyn.’

Friday

Levi is worried about Mackenzie. She’s not been herself since they returned from visiting Dean and Ziggy. Mackenzie requests they both just try to forget it. His concerns escalated, Levi persuades Tane to see if Mackenzie will open up to him instead. He shares his concerns that there’s more to the story – maybe something else happened while she and Ziggy were alone with the prisoners? When Tane convinces her to open up she confirms that yes – she was shaken up after everything they went through, but no – there’s not something more sinister she hasn’t told Levi. They found out Ziggy is pregnant again…and it made Mackenzie realise that she wants to have a baby. More than anything. But she has no idea how Levi is going to feel about it.

In Mackenzie’s haste to change the subject, she plants the idea that Mali should move back into the house, and with Abigail. A little apprehensive at first by the sudden offer, Levi soon agrees, giving full support to Mali and his sister as a couple. Mali is unsure, but brings the idea to Abigail, and they discuss all the progress they’ve made in their relationship. Him moving back in does feel right and they commit – let’s do it!

Roo apologises to Eliza for having gone behind her back, and promises to be more upfront in future. However, when Marilyn is once again left alone in Eliza’s presence, she makes veiled threats of what might happen when Marilyn is asleep in the house. This is the last straw for Marilyn, and she takes Irene up on an offer to stay at her place, despite her concerns for Roo’s safety. Roo’s angered by Marilyn’s departure, reinforcing that Eliza is just a kid. Later when she is alone, Roo goes through Eliza’s treasured memory box. Item by item, her fears intensify…. A feather, some money, a photo with the eyes scratched out, Alf’s knife, a lighter…
