Monday

Harper and Eliza have escaped for a bush walk, ignoring Marilyn’s frenzied phone calls. Harper feels a painful kick from the baby, and doubles over. It’s the early pains of labour rocketing through her. With rapid progression, Harper needs to go to the hospital. She relies on Eliza to call an ambulance, but Eliza’s fixated on the opportunity to see something fascinating take place and fakes the call. With nothing for the pain, Harper struggles through agonising contractions. When she finally decides to try calling for an ambulance again, she notices a bunch of missed calls from Tane. Harper calls him and he and Levi jump into rescue-mode. Harper still believes there’s an ambulance on the way, and that’s what she tells the men on their arrival. Eliza watches on, hiding the truth. Levi calmly informs Harper that she’s fully dilated and she’s going to give birth naturally. Harper spirals into panic and desperation, screaming at Levi that she has to have a cesarian, that it’s too dangerous to deliver the baby any other way. Levi, with nerves of steel, tells Harper that they don’t have a choice, the baby is coming now.

At the Diner, Leah asks Theo about the mystery girl he’s been texting non-stop, but with the desire to conceal Lacey’s connection to the River Boys, he knows he can’t give away much. Further questioning from Leah, and Theo reveals that Lacey unfortunately already has a boyfriend, and he’s not a good guy. Leah offers one simple warning – just be careful. Justin is helping Kirby shoot a video to send off to a magazine, hopeful they might want to do an article on her. After they get a successful take, Kirby rushes off and Justin notices Theo down the beach on his own. Theo comments that life is complicated and asks Justin what he thinks about cheating. Justin encourages him to be honest with this girl and find out how serious she is about him. Cheating is always a bad idea.

Alf reports to Roo and Marilyn what he’s heard about Eliza and Harper, stuck in the bush alone with Harper going into labour. Despite knowing about Eliza’s unsettling fixation with the pregnancy, Roo’s first thought is to hope that the girl is okay out there. She tries to call Eliza but can’t get through to her. Marilyn finally has the nerve to tell Roo she thinks Eliza probably would do something to hurt Harper out there, and she believes Roo should share her concern.

Tuesday

Dana raves to John about how excited she it so become an aunty. Unfortunately, John’s still a bit of a downer after the failed engagement. Mackenzie passes them and invites Dana for a coffee, hoping to maintain their friendship despite Harper and Tane’s breakup. It’s not as easy for them to see eye to eye as they may have hoped. Dana’s adamant that Tane’s the one who caused all the hurt in the failed engagement, but Mackenzie believes he had every good intention at heart.

Tension rises between Roo and Marilyn over concerns (or startling lack thereof) about Eliza not answering any calls while out in the bush with Harper, who’s in labour. Irene suddenly realises that no one would have told Dana what’s going on. She rushes off to call her and let her know. Meanwhile, Leah comforts Marilyn, allowing her to vent about the fact that Roo won’t even acknowledge that there’s something more complicated going on with Eliza.

Harper’s sobbing, in pain and terrified of giving birth in the dangerous wilderness. Tane’s frustrated there’s still no ambulance and calls them and hands the phone to Levi, who gives the emergency services team the details of Harper’s condition. Levi reassures Harper the ambulance is on the way. Behind them, Eliza takes out her phone and starts recording. In Tane’s comforting arms, Harper screams through the last few pushes, and Levi is ready to deliver the baby. For a moment, everyone’s transfixed, as they wait for the baby’s first cry. Finally, it rings out and everyone is awash with relief. Levi hands the baby to Harper, and all the pain of the past few weeks shrinks as the new parents embrace their child for the first time.

At the hospital, Dana rushes down the hall to finally meet her nephew. Harper and Tane hold a newfound mutual admiration for the way they each handled the traumatic birth. This little unconventional family is going to be okay. Meanwhile, Roo tries to comfort Eliza after what she assumes was a traumatic afternoon, but Eliza’s completely unfazed. She pulls out the video to show Roo, expecting her to share in the fascination with it all. Roo’s shocked that Eliza filmed the birth – without being asked to do so.

At the hospital, just when everything seemed to be okay, Harper starts hemorrhaging. After hours of waiting, Tane’s by her side when she wakes. But she asks him to leave. The pain of her heartbreak is back. After he’s gone, Mackenzie asks Harper an agonising question – can she really take this special time away from Tane?

Kirby excitedly announces that a magazine want to do an article on her, following her around for a day in the life. The journalist, Seb, arrives, with a warning to Kirby that she better make this worth getting up so early for. Kirby takes on all the lessons at the surf shop, to keep her journalist interested, but he’s concerned that she doesn’t seem to have much time to work on music. She explains that she does some of her best writing when she’s out on the water by herself and Seb says he’d like to get some shots of that. Kirby’s suddenly forced to ask for yet another favour from Mali. His blood starts to boil as he watches her taking advantage of her job throughout the day. At the end of a successful interview, he overhears her claiming to have designed some of the boards at the shop. It’s a step too far for Mali, and it doesn’t matter if the journalist overhears, he’s not having her walk all over him like this anymore. She’s fired. And she needs to get out.

Cash is ready to wish Tane well for the birth of his son, But Tane informs him Archie was born yesterday. Despite the exciting news, Tane explains that Harper asked him to leave her side at the hospital. Eden emerges from the bedroom, having overheard most of the sobering conversation. Cash delivers flowers to Harper and Archie, where he finds out Harper also went into emergency surgery after the birth – a detail Tane neglected to disclose. Harper asks how he is, but still doesn’t have the strength to do anything about the fact that he’s not good.

Tane’s friends try to coax him out of his room. Mackenzie pushes her way in to make sure he’s okay. Tane quietly misses his son. He’s gone to a lot of scary places in his mind, even wondering if he’ll have to put up a fight in court just to see his kid. Mackenzie urges him to not lose hope and asks if there is anything she can do. He hands her a gift, for his son, to be delivered to the hospital. When Mackenzie presents the gift to Harper, she claims she’s tired and should probably get some sleep. Before leaving, Mackenzie tells her the present is meant to be opened today. Unable to face it herself, Harper asks Dana if she can open it for her. Inside the box is a handwritten letter from Tane to Archie and a Korowai.

After hearing Dana read Tane’s letter aloud, Harper’s moved to tears. She invites Tane back to the hospital. As soon as he enters the room, he sees Archie in his Korowai and is met with a sincere apology from Harper. Archie is his son, he should be here.

Thursday

Theo reveals to Sonny that he thinks he could have some kind of future with Lacey, to Sonny’s dismay. Along the beach, Lacey’s enjoying sunbathing and Theo moves to speak to her, ignoring Sonny’s warning. Gage is on his way out of the surf as Theo’s asking Lacey if they can talk later. She agrees, but seconds later is swept in a showy kiss with Gage. Later, Sonny approaches Gage, hoping to convince him to allow him to drive in Theo’s place. Gage tells him there won’t be any racing for a while anyway, the cops are too close for comfort. Lacey takes the opportunity to get them some food from Salt, where Theo’s waiting for her. When she arrives, he cuts right to the chase, telling her he thinks they should be together. She panics immediately, fully aware of the threat that Gage presents to them both. She accuses Theo of wanting ownership of her, of being no different from Gage in that way, but he argues that he actually cares about her. Which is a lot more than what could be said of his competition. She can’t be swayed and tells him if he’s not interested in continuing what they’re doing, that’s fine, but a relationship is fully off the cards.

After being caught looking at her old engagement ring, Eden explains to Cash that she was just trying to see if it still fit; not ready to be honest yet about her plans to revisit the topic of engagement. Remi and Bree catch her on the edge of a spiral and sit with her at the coffee cart. As they talk her down, Eden opens up about her longing to get her life with Cash back to its former momentum. Then, Cash arrives, having been tipped off by Remi. They sit together, and Eden prepares for the ring situation to be a big deal, but Cash reassures her that he’s glad she likes it and it’s just a ring. But he’s still missing the point. With some encouragement from Kirby, Eden works up the nerve to finally be honest with Cash. She tells him she’s ready to wear the ring again. He admits he wants to ask her to marry him, but he wants it to be the right moment. He wants to sweep her off her feet.

Abigail tries to center Mali after he fired Kirby on impulse. She helps him build a schedule, so he won’t drown under the workload, but he still fails to see the real problem at hand; his friendship with Kirby has wounds. Meanwhile, Justin tries to help Kirby put out the dumpster-fire that her upcoming magazine article ought to be. With Abigail by his side, Mali pays Kirby a visit, to apologise. She shares in the remorse, and the friendship is recovered. But she’s still fired.

Over at Salt, Sonny admits to Remi and Bree that he thinks something terrible is about to happen to Theo. Lured in by the promise of a race, Theo’s made his way to Gage’s property. Face to face with the boyfriend of his lover, Theo may have just walked right into a gnarly trap.

Friday

Sonny debriefs with Remi and Bree about his concerns for Theo. He’s pretty sure Gage knows about the affair, which put’s a massive target on Theo’s back. Remi’s only input is to get the police involved, and they head down to the station together, but Sonny’s worried that this might not be the best approach. Not wanting to give away his and Theo’s involvement in the River Boys’ street racing, Sonny tries to say only what’s essential, but Cash reveals that he already knows.

Justin’s also got his suspicions about Theo’s safety, aware he’s hanging around the River Boys. He pays Cash a visit to check in, but all that Cash can tell him is an informant has come forward. Justin admits that Theo’s not answering his phone. Seconds after Cash says he believes it will all be over soon, he finds an envelope addressed to him. Inside is the tracker he put on Gage’s car.

Justin barges in on Bree and Remi’s breakfast, demanding information. They finally give him the truth, that Theo’s been street racing with the River Boys. Justin’s furious, awash with new dread and anger toward Sonny.

Theo tries to leave, surrounded by River Boys, but one of them hops in his car and drives it away. Lacey watches on, fear brewing, as Gage leads Theo off for a ‘discussion’. Lacey tries to diffuse whatever is brewing in Gage, reassuring him that he’s scared Theo enough. Gage coldly reveals to Lacey that he knows about their affair. Inside the shed, Theo’s car is up on a hydraulic lift and the River Boys drag him beneath it, Gage’s hand hovering threateningly over the controls. Lacey sends a sneaky text to Sonny with their location, urging him to come now. Sonny calls Cash to get him to follow, but he doesn’t pick up.

Gage lounges on the hydraulic lift above Theo, who has been tied to the ground beneath it. The lift lowers while Gage laughs, echoed by his loyal gang. Lacey urges him to stop but nobody is getting through Gage’s fury. Sonny arrives, screaming for Theo but is met with the brute force of the River Boys, who swiftly take him outside and give him a beating. Gage continues to lower the lift, despite Lacey’s desperate attempts to wrestle the remote from him. The air is forced from Theo’s lungs as the weight of the car crushes him.

Gage and the River Boys flee, leaving a wounded Sonny desperately gasping and stumbling toward Theo, who’s not moving. He tries to raise the lift but the struggle with Lacey caused Gage to break it. Struggling to breathe from his own injuries, does Sonny have the strength to save Theo?
