Emmerdale air these scenes from Monday 18 August on ITV1
With Robert in a dark place after his actions John successfully succeeds in turning Victoria against Robert by exaggerating what happened. He then visits Robert, rubbing in how he’s lost both Victoria and Aaron, leaving poor Robert in total despair and full of self-loathing.
Later, Aaron hears a commotion and finds Robert smashing up his room and intervenes comforting his ex in his depths of despair. He’s shocked how completely broken Robert is and comforts and reassures him. Robert accepts he’s lost everything but soon Aaron admits he has been pushing Robert away due to his own unresolved feelings. This leads to them giving in to their mutual desire. As they lie in bed together outside John and Victoria are just about to check on Robert together… But will they walk in on them?
The next day, Aaron’s fighting his guilt, he has decided it was a one off – a mistake but Robert believes he’s chosen him over John and Aaron is left in turmoil by Robert’s insistence that they’re destined to be together.
John’s stressed by the police developments as at the surgery, police tell Liam Nate’s murder investigation is reopened due to an inconsistency with Owen’s supposed suicide note leaving John in a panic and seeing a grieving Tracy at the case being reopened adds to John’s guilt. Mack is annoyed when his mate Aaron confides in the kiss on the wedding day and tells him about last night.
Meanwhile a shaky John is struggling to hold it all together and with Aaron keen to get them both away for a fresh start Aaron suggests they could leave the village is his only option. John’s surprised but it’s music ot his ears under the guilt over the Nate investigation hotting up. Chas is visibly upset to hear of their plans to go as Liam agrees to John taking some holiday leave.
With plans made, we hear and with John increasingly fearful the murder investigation will implicate him, John makes a chilling phone call…
