Emmerdale airs at 8pm on ITV1

Moira and Cain are shocked to be arrested for murder in front of their children. At the Police Station, Cain remains tight-lipped throughout his interview. Throughout her interview, Moira maintains she was set up by Celia but is stunned when DS Walsh reveals that one of the bodies was Celia.

Moria begins to panic when she realises the sheer amount of evidence stacked against her. Cain is released without charge.

However, after speaking to his solicitor, Caleb relays the devastating information that one of the bodies was shrouded in Moira’s blanket, causing a raging Cain to refuse to return home without his wife.

The ordeal culminates when DS Walsh reveals Moira’s DNA was found on the blanket Anya was buried in, and Moira is gobsmacked to be charged with both Celia and Anya’s murders. Chas, Cain, and Caleb are devastated to see Moira being carted off to a police car as she tells Cain she’s been charged with double murder.

Later, Cain visits Moira in prison and when she enters sporting a black eye he is visibly thrown and anxious.

Speaking to the media, Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley admits, ‘It’s not something that they saw coming at all. I think it’s one of total shock.’ As for the DNA that links Moira to Anya’s murder, ‘We knew that Ray and Celia were wrong… but this is really bewildering.’

Elsewhere this week for Cain is his prostate cancer diagnosis, which Jeff spoke about: ‘Cain doesn’t feel he can tell anybody because the person he’d normally tell these things to would be Moira, and she’s in prison. He is faced with his own mortality, and he knows this is something that could finish him off. He’s lost his mother to cancer, so he’s all too aware of what can happen.’
