Gone begins Sunday, March 8th, 2026 on ITV1 at 9pm
Impassive headmaster Michael Polly surveys a school rugby pitch as the First XV of St Bartholomew’s, his team, snatches victory from the jaws of defeat. Afterwards, he arrives home with daughter Alana to find there is no sign of his wife Sarah, a music teacher at the school.

Next day, an inscrutable Michael reports Sarah missing to DS Annie Cassidy, a no-nonsense, breezy detective who, we’ve seen, is furtively rekindling things with her self-deprecating ex. Annie and DC Becky Hammond begin investigating. Why would a woman with no apparent difficulties just walk out on her life? Michael appears to cooperate, while a puzzling discovery sends Alana in a tailspin.
As more evidence emerges, Sarah’s disappearance is escalated to high risk, and the news begins to spread despite Michael’s efforts to contain it. He remains fixated on the school and the rugby team, whose star player Dylan Sedgwick is getting into constant trouble. In her newly assigned position as Family Liaison Officer, Annie observes the curious headmaster, as Sarah’s disappearance takes a sinister turn.
