Corrie’s Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon has opened up about Ryan, Kit guilt and a hint about the forthcoming trial as her mother Sarah remains locked up for Theo’s death.

Is Bethany feeling guilty after sleeping with Kit?
I think it was definitely a major mistake and she is feeling incredibly guilty. That guilt is going to weigh on her for quite a while.
Was it just a moment of madness?
There has been a lot going on recently. Bethany has been holding everything together for everyone and trying to look after Harry, while Kit has his own separate issues. They were in the flat together and one thing led to another. It clearly causes many problems between them moving forward. For both of them, it was a massive mistake.
Has Bethany noticed how badly Kit is spiralling?
Bethany has noticed several red flags, such as blood on his shirt and she has had to manage everything alone because he isn’t helping with Harry. She has seen him going on dates with Jodie and bringing home strangers. She is suspicious because he is acting strangely, but she has no idea that he is actually battling cancer.
What does she put it down to?
She puts it down to the pressure he is under, especially having to care for Harry, who isn’t even his child. He is constantly surrounded by reminders of Sarah while living in her flat with her children, all while Sarah faces a potential murder conviction. Bethany believes he is spiralling because of this overwhelming situation.

How does Bethany think Sarah is coping in prison?
She doesn’t believe Sarah is coping well at all. If anything, Bethany thinks Sarah appears too chilled about everything given that everyone on the outside is going crazy. Bethany is worried that Sarah is handling things a bit too calmly, which is concerning. Especially after seeing Sarah with bruises on her face, she knows this is far from an ideal situation.
Bethany tells Sarah that Kit is seeing other women, how does she react?
Ideally, Bethany wants her mum to forget about Kit and focus on herself and her release from prison. If Sarah gets out and reconciles with Kit, it will make Bethany’s secret even more complicated. Bethany tells Sarah that Kit is dating other women and bringing them home in the hope that Sarah will move on. This way, Bethany hopes she won’t ever have to admit that she slept with him.
There’s a spark between Bethany and Ryan this week, don’t they have history?
They had a brief relationship about eight years ago before Bethany moved on to Daniel. However, the door to Daniel is firmly closed now. Ryan is a great choice and I think they work really well together. I also love working with Ryan Prescott, so this is a wonderful storyline for me.
They go on a date, is Bethany optimistic this could be the start of something?
Yes. Although the guilt regarding Kit is still there, she isn’t wishing she were with him instead. She sees Ryan as a positive way to move on from that mistake. She genuinely likes Ryan and believes they could be a good match. It was never going to work out with Roman – two bad dates were enough to end that!
Why is Ryan a good match for Bethany?
He is a genuinely kind person with strong morals. Like Bethany, he has been through a lot, which creates a deep level of mutual understanding. He has facial scarring and she has a stoma; they can relate to each other’s experiences. He’s also fun—while Daniel was quite serious, Ryan brings a sense of fun that Bethany really needs right now.

Sarah’s trial is coming up, what can you tease about that?
It is dramatic, sneaky and also devastating!
