Series 7 of All Creatures Great and Small returns viewers to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in 1946. With the war finally over, Skeldale House is full once again and livelier than ever as our beloved characters reunite under one roof and look ahead to a hopeful new chapter.
James is excited about new developments in veterinary medicine, but a new vet in the area threatens the status quo. The world at large may be changing, but inside our slice of Yorkshire, the Dales always offers the same perfect escapism.
Packed with warmth, humour and community spirit, the series brings more heartwarming tales of people and animals alike.

Episode 1 – ‘Back to School’
It’s Spring 1946 and our characters are finally enjoying a world with the war in the rear-view mirror.
James impresses as a mature vet and Helen considers plans to invest in the future of the farm – can she get Richard on board?
But when a new vet arrives in Darrowby, Siegfried is suspicious of his tactics, Tristan’s impressed with his style and James begins to question himself.
James, Helen and the kids visit the local sweet shop where confectioner, Geoff Hatfield is concerned about his cat, Alfred. James becomes increasingly stumped as to what’s wrong.
Dorothy seems to be having a positive effect on Siegfried and Mrs Hall is enjoying having her friend around. Jimmy’s excited to start school but will have to adjust to the changes that it will bring.
Episode 2 – ‘The Friesians are Coming!’
Helen welcomes the new Friesian cows to Heston, hoping an increased milk yield will be good for business but can she convince Richard?
Siegfried’s on a mission to improve the practice though not everyone is sure he’s on the right track, including grumpy Dales farmers Mr Hollins and Grandad Hollins who need help with their sow, Harriet, but don’t look kindly on anything ‘new’.
Siegfried’s Dorothy-induced good mood provides a fun opportunity for Tristan.
Mrs Hall, Mrs Pumphrey and Maggie meet at the Women’s Institute (WI) to discuss how to support the locals and Mrs Hall has an idea. Meanwhile, Tricki needs some help from Uncle Herriot.
Episode 3 – ‘The Owl and the Pussycats’
Skeldale is a whirlwind of activity as Siegfried tries to compete with Granville Bennett, but can James and Tristan cope with his new system?
Charlotte requests Tristan’s veterinary help with some wild cats that she’s become very fond of at Beauvoir Manor. When Tristan brings the cats back to the surgery to treat them, Siegfried wonders if Tristan needs some romantic advice.
James and Helen get an invite to Granville and Zoe Bennett’s but they have a last minute babysitter crisis and James ends up having to take a client with him.
Whilst Siegfried might be impressing the clients, he struggles to focus on matters closer to home and is left with some real making up to do.
Episode 4 – ‘Doppelgänger’
There’s a hive of activity at Skeldale as Helen & the kids make birthday cards for Mrs Hall. When Dorothy and Helen hear that Edward can’t visit for Mrs Hall’s birthday, they plan a little surprise for her. But putting her feet up is going to be easier said than done.
When a mystery dog appears in town, it falls to Tristan to figure it out.
James and Siegfried check on Mr Bushell’s cow, Bella, and realise they are going to have to take a huge risk and attempt a difficult surgery that neither of them have ever done before and must go in blind. Whether they can save the cow and her calf remains to be seen.
Mrs Pumphrey arrives to discuss the WI and Mrs Hall enlists her help with an interloper.
Dorothy learns what the house really needs.
Episode 5 – ‘Farnon, Herriot and Farnon’
Tristan decides to smarten himself up for a final romantic date before Charlotte heads off on her trip and takes advantage of Josh the local barber working in the Drover’s. A haircut for a pint seems like a good deal, but is there a drawback? Tristan finds himself thinking on his feet when Josh’s dog, Venus, has an unplanned adventure, and Josh’s unusual talent leaves Tristan with food for thought – and so does Siegfried.
The house is bracing itself for Siegfried’s imminent move, but his pet rat has gone walk about, causing Jimmy some real concern. Mrs Hall is the voice of reassurance and Siegfried and Jimmy join forces to tempt Bunthorne the rat back into the fold.
At Heston, James and Richard disagree on whether one of the Friesians is unwell and James later returns to find an impossible task ahead of him. Helen has to give him some home truths.
Episode 6 – ‘Give Us This Day’
Siegfried is irritated by the local gossip and jumps at the change to help Granville Bennett out with a horse with severe abdominal pain.
Jimmy’s got some questions about being a farmer and Helen shows him a thing or two.
Mrs Hall is puzzled about the goings on at the local bakery and takes it upon herself to investigate with amusing consequences.
James, Siegfried & Tristan work together to help Granville treat the very sick horse, the conclusion isn’t at all what Siegfried was expecting.
