Graham arrives late for Dawn’s funeral and we wonder what he has been up to. When Joe struggles to deliver a eulogy, Kim steps in to provide a tribute. She finishes with a vow to keep the family together, but Joe, unable to cope with the weight of his grief, walks away from the burial. Kim and Graham argue about Joe’s absence and the family’s future. The dark truth is finally revealed when Joe visits a grave to swear vengeance for Dawn’s death: he has buried Ruby alive in the coffin.
Kev urges Vinny to hold it together and continue his plan to marry Lewis. When Vinny claims that he intends to do the right thing, Kev seems reassured that Vinny’s talking about making up with Lewis. Ultimately, Vinny seeks out Nicola and tearfully confesses that he was responsible for the car accident that killed Jimmy and Dawn.
Cain’s wrongfooted when Moira assumes he withheld his cancer diagnosis from Sadie because he was enjoying the attention. When Moira continues to rage with Cain he admits that he actually kept quiet because Sadie was opening up to him about the loss of their child. When Sadie interrupts their conversation, Cain and Moira present a united front, proving that Cain’s allegiances lie with his wife.
Sarah and Jacob are relieved when Ross confirms he has no intention of fighting for custody of Leyla.
