Spoilers below for Monday’s (17th August) visit to Emmerdale.

Kill him with kindness…or a heavy object (Picture: ITV)

As a menacing Malone pushed and pushed Dawn the one thing clear about about tonight’s episode was that the smaller cast worked and the story flows a lot better when you aren’t trying to keep up with a million stories at once.

Malone is to Emmerdale what Phil Mitchell is to EastEnders in that he has nine lives, you’d have thought AND hoped that getting clobbered the other week he would get the message.

How will Harriet cope if Malone is dead? (Picture: ITV)

Harriet has a habit of going for the wrong guys Cain, Will and Malone – only now Malone is laying sprawled out on the floor after she whacked him to protect Dawn. For a long time I have seen Tweets pushing for Katherine Dow Blyton to get a storyline so whatever comes of this I hope it gives Harriet a meaty storyline to get her teeth into.

Also tonight we had Nate revealing Tracy’s pregnancy and Mandy growing irritated with Paul both of which didn’t really add to the episode except to make me yawn.

Emmerdale continues Wednesday 19th August at 7pm on ITV.
