Stephen feels guilty at Rufus’ memorial. He is asked how he knew Rufus by Jools, Rufus’ son. Stephen rushes out and returns with the factory staff to make Rufus appear more popular. However, when Jools gives an emotional speech about his dad, Stephen becomes distressed and excuses himself to the restroom. Carla and Lou observe his behavior. Stephen is shocked when Lou shows him a bag containing Rufus’ belongings, including Stephen’s tie pin. Lou mentions Rufus’ missing watch, prompting Peter to confess that he found it in his cab and pawned it for Carla’s rehab. Lou reveals her plan to show the tie pin to the police, as it doesn’t belong to Rufus.

Gemma feels bad about the pub being sold and believes she can stop it if Chesney allows her to work with Henry. Bernie advises Chesney to trust Gemma and let her work with Henry. Gemma meets Henry in the precinct and offers to accept his job offer if he promises to save the pub. Henry is delighted. Gemma informs Chesney that Henry has agreed to buy the pub on the condition that she becomes his personal assistant. Chesney embraces her despite his worries.

Max wishes Lauren good luck but breaks his promise to support her at the café. Lauren struggles at the café but Shona assures Roy that she will improve. Sabrina proposes spending time with Max at No.8, so Max texts Lauren that he can’t visit the café. Unaware of Lauren watching, Max heads home with Sabrina. Sabrina confesses that she likes Max but can’t have a relationship with him as long as Lauren is in his life. Max is torn between the two. Lauren returns home and announces to Max and Shona that Roy has offered her a permanent job.

Elsewhere, Stu apologizes to Eliza for his behavior towards her father, but she remains unforgiving. Eliza facetimes her dad, which angers Stu, leading to an argument when they return home with Yasmeen. Hope practices her solo for the Little Big Shotz summer spectacular in front of Ruby (Introducing Billie Naylor as Ruby Dobbs), expecting to get the lead role. However, Glenda announces that Ruby has been cast as the lead, with Eliza, Ciara, and Hope as her backup singers. Ruby is thrilled while Hope feels disappointed.
