Paul continues to help Terese work through her recruitment issue with Eirini Rising. She’s growing increasingly stressed in the lead up to the big opening and his desire to support her only increases too. Unbeknownst to him, an exhausted Terese has an unseeling dream reminding her why they broke up the last time – Paul covering up a murder. Meanwhile, Chelsea, jealous of the place Terese still has in Paul’s heart, tries to tell him he’s fooling himself if he thinks he’ll get what he wants from Terese again… and she’s proved right when the dream causes Terese to pull away, leaving Paul deeply disappointed.
Krista’s fallen back down the rabbit hole of substance use to mask her grief. Arriving at the Waterhole in the middle of the night, she finds a similarly grieving Aaron already there having a private drinking session. Krista urges Aaron to let her join him and it’s beyond his powers to deny a grieving woman an hour or two of solace – just this once. The following day, Chelsea realises Krista has a hangover, but enables her to hide her destructive behaviour. When Krista realises Aaron has ditched his responsibilities and gone to visit his former home in Daylesford hoping to connect with David’s memory, she follows him. Despite her own problems, she supports him through the painful endeavor of revisiting a time that has let him with many regrets. It’s a bonding moment between the two friends, until Aaron finds the pills that have fallen out of Krista’s bag – so much for “just this once”.
Mackenzie has made arrangements for another meet up with Zach. Oblivious Haz begs her to spend some couple time with him, but she turns him down, privately prioritizing supporting his victim. She doesn’t know that Zach is employing devious tactics to gain her trust, enjoying hearing about the destruction he’s caused with her friends, and digging for ways to make Mackenzie’s life hell also. When he learns about her dream to be on the Supreme Court one day, it’s clear he’s about to put a big spoke in her wheel…
