EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One

Michelle Collins has shared her excitement about being at the heart of EastEnders’ highly anticipated Christmas episode this year, calling it ‘a real EastEnders classic.’

‘It’s almost a tradition to watch EastEnders on Christmas Day,’ Michelle said. ‘Last Christmas was a classic, and this year’s episode will be no different. I’m thrilled to be part of it.’

The drama centers around Cindy’s affair, a storyline that Michelle found unsurprising given her character’s infamous history. ‘When I first came back, everyone kept asking, “When is Cindy going to be bad again?” It’s almost expected of her. I read the scripts and sometimes think, “Oh gosh, what is she up to now?”’

Filming the dramatic scenes set to unfold in The Vic was a whirlwind. ‘Playing Cindy is always a challenge because she’s so self-destructive and unpredictable,’ Michelle admitted. ‘As an actor, you go through so many emotions, but you also have to enjoy the ride.’

Despite Cindy’s reputation, Michelle believes in the possibility of redemption. ‘She’s complex and flawed, but she needs redemption to stay believable. Nobody’s perfect.’

Reflecting on her favourite moments on set, Michelle shared her love for Christmas in Albert Square. ‘I particularly enjoy the night shoots—it’s beautiful and nostalgic. There’s something magical about spending Christmas on the Square.’

Fans can expect high drama and emotion on December 25. ‘In three words: dramatic, powerful, and moving,’ Michelle teased. ‘A true EastEnders classic.’
