Harper runs into David while getting coffee and he reassures her he’s working around the clock to follow every lead, but she’s disappointed when he cannot give her specific details about the Tane investigation. Later, Harper confesses to Mackenzie that she suspects it was her mother who planted the drugs, and that fires Mackenzie up. She feels Tane’s whole life was turned on its head because of Harper and her mother, and kicks Harper out of Salt. Now in a whirlwind of emotion and stress, Harper goes directly to the police station for more answers, but David dismisses her yet again.
Holden and Mali throw punches back and forth and Holden clocks Mali in the jaw, deluded and determined to get rid of the obstacles that keep coming between him and Lacey. Mackenzie ushers Lacey into the surf club and Levi steps in to help Mali end the fight. Holden backs off, insisting that Mali will regret this. Inside, Lacey gives Mackenzie the whole, horrible story. But she doesn’t want to go to the police – because that means going to her dad. In the meantime, Holden turns up at the police station, battered from his fight with Mali and declares he’d like to report an assault, naming Mali as his attacker.
David heads to the surf club to speak with Mali and Mackenzie who are reluctant to give David the full story, knowing Lacey doesn’t want him to find out about Holden. Mali is questioned at the police station and struggles to explain what happened without mentioning Lacey’s involvement. Eventually, he gives in, admitting to David that Holden is obsessed with Lacey, and has been ignoring her requests to be left alone.
Now caught up about the dire situation his daughter is in, David finally sits down with Lacey, reassuring her. He tells her she should have come to him the moment she felt unsafe and he won’t let Holden hurt her. Lacey’s convinced it’s time to take an AVO out against Holden but unbeknownst to both, Holden’s in their house, waiting for Lacey to get home. As she arrives, Holden has set the scene: a candle-lit dinner and a card that says I love you.
