Home and Away airs on 5STAR at 6:30pm
Remi accompanies Sonny back to the Surf Club from his physio session. He’s looking forward to delivering some good news to Dana, although he’s aware she’s got a lot on her plate, so he needs to pick his time wisely. Meanwhile, Dana has just shared the news with John over the arrest of her mother. John is across how much Dana’s got going on, so he lets her off the hook for the rest of her lifesaving shift so that she can spend time with Sonny. Dana opens up to Sonny that even though she’s glad Kerrie’s going to get punished for what she did, she can’t help but feel sad. Sonny empathises – it’s still her mum after all is said and done, it’s normal for her to feel conflicted. Dana thanks Sonny for allowing her to come to terms with her complicated feelings, then rushes off to a night shift at the hospital. Sonny has withheld his own good news from Dana in favour of listening to her struggles.
Overlooking the beach, Justin reminds Lacey that her grief is still fresh and to give it time. He can sense the depth of Lacey’s hurt, so he enlists Leah’s aid for some emotional support at the Diner. Lacey and Leah go for a walk along the beach and Lacey shares her grief that she never got to say goodbye to Theo, as well as her frustration at Jo for comparing their situations. Theo’s death was so sudden, unlike Tane’s death where Jo at least gets the luxury of saying goodbye. Leah asks her if she could have said one last word to Theo, what would it be? Lacey thinks – will you forgive me? Leah mirrors Lacey’s sentiment – she regrets that the last time she saw Theo she was angry at him, but what ultimately matters is that they loved each other and nothing can change that. Lacey reads between the lines of what Leah is saying – that despite her grief she should try to be there for her sister. Marilyn and Leah make Lacey a little care package of food to take home, and Lacey leaves, thanking Leah for her emotional support.
Remi gets home, enthusiastic to find Eden’s playing music again, and asks her to share some. Eden obliges and plays a song for Remi. It becomes immediately apparent to Remi that the song is inspired by his anomic aphasia diagnosis. Remi walks out on her mid song… the pain is still too raw to bare. Eden knocks on his bedroom door to try to smooth things over, but he’s furious and leaves the house telling her that the song will never see the light of day.
Remi runs into Justin outside the house and immediately vents his frustration towards Eden for over stepping. Justin tells him that Theo used to always make a point of mining his own personal life for inspiration. He should probably at least give the song a listen… plus, would people even know it’s about Remi’s life? This softens Remi, who returns to the house and asks Eden to play the song for him. When she does, the emotions start to come flooding for Remi. She puts a hand on his shoulder, finally able to connect through his pain. Later that night, Remi is still cold on the idea of getting back into playing music, but over dinner Sonny and Eden encourage him – he’s got all the money in the world, what’s there to lose? The next day, Remi catches up with Justin who reminds him how music used to make him happy. The cogs are ticking for Remi… will he pick up the guitar again?
