It’s the end of an era as we bid a fond farewell to River City after 24 years on screen.

In this ‘must see’ hour-long finale, Lenny and Harry’s bitter rivalry leads to an intense showdown; love and marriage is key for some Shieldinch residents; while new beginnings beckon at The Tall Ship.
As the news of Harry’s escape spreads, a determined Lenny does all he can to protect his family. However, Harry is focused on revenge and takes Amber hostage while Alex. Lenny and Lydia frantically try to hunt him down.
As the Murdochs face a race against time to save Amber, a dramatic showdown follows between arch-rivals Harry Foulkes and Lenny Murdoch – the outcome of which will change things forever.
Meanwhile, at The Tall Ship, Scarlett and Sam’s wedding party is in full swing with everyone celebrating the newlyweds. With love in the air, Angus’s surprise proposal for Amber doesn’t quite go to plan, while best pal Bob has relationship woes of his own with Alice.
With the police manhunt for Harry unfolding, the Tall Ship goes into lockdown as the locals unite.
Elsewhere, secrets and lies unravel between Eddie and Tyler; Gillian says her goodbyes to Mikey; and Kelly-Marie and Chris embrace new beginnings.
In the wake of the drama unfolding around them, the residents of Montego Street gather together, reflecting on life in Shieldinch.

As the cameras stop rolling for the final time, River City: The Last Take reunites the cast to celebrate 24 years of laughter, love and plenty of drama in Shieldinch as we bid a fond farewell to the show.
With exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the last week of filming, emotional reunions, unforgettable clips as well as memories from devoted fans, this one-hour documentary takes viewers on one last wander down Montego Street.
The cast – including Stephen Purdon, Sally Howitt, Frank Gallagher, Jacqueline Leonard, Jordan Young, Carmen Pieraccini, Grant Stott and Gayle Telfer Stevens – reunite for an emotional, funny and revealing insight into the moments that defined the drama. Alongside their onscreen families, the cast celebrate some of the unforgettable storylines from over two decades of drama as well as sharing untold behind-the-scenes secrets.
The one-off documentary also meets some of River City’s biggest fans who share their memories about what makes the Shieldinch so special to them; while Stephen Purdon takes viewers a very special guided tour of the legendary set.
One last trip to Shieldinch on BBC Scotland airing Monday 31 August 2026 at 9pm followed at 10pm by River City: The Last Take

An overwhelmed Mikey turns to an unexpected confidant, leading to bridges being built. Alice is forced to consider her future with Bob, Tyler is left stunned by a revelation, and Callum struggles to cope with Tommy’s survival uncertainty.

Harry is hellbent on revenge and goes on the hunt for Tyler, much to Eddie’s horror. Angus is confident he can stall Amber and the surprise, Mack is roped into covering for an embarrassed Alice, and Chris surprises Kelly-Marie with an exciting new business venture.
