EastEnders has confirmed a return for Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) in scenes that will air later this year. On returning to EastEnders, Rob Kazinsky said: “I left EastEnders in 2008 as a 23-year-old boy and was lucky to spend the next 19 years of my life working around the world, always championing EastEnders and stating the fact that one day I wanted to walk in Sean’s shoes again.”

Elsewhere, while it’s not yet known when Stacey (Lacey Turner) will return, she did reveal in a video on YouTube: “I am coming back, I won’t be long.” Stacey’s exit came as she tried to move on after her ex-husband Martin died in tragic circumstances during the show’s 40th anniversary live episode.

If this wasn’t enough for the family to deal with, there is also the rumoured upcoming shock death of Zoe (Michelle Ryan). Barely a year on from a much-anticipated return, rumours have been rife for weeks that the character is set to be killed off – wasting a return 20 years in the making. Upon her return to the show, Michelle said: “Zoe is a mess. She’s not the girl that left Walford twenty years ago, and she’s been really struggling on her own.”

The BBC is keeping tight-lipped about Zoe’s exit but has confirmed in a statement to Digital Spy “We can confirm that Zoe Slater will be departing EastEnders later this year. “We wish Michelle Ryan all the best for the future. However, we never comment on future storylines as we don’t want to spoil it for the viewers.”
At the time of her return, Executive Producer Ben Wadey said: “Zoe’s return is just one of the many exciting storylines we have planned.”
