It has been announced that another EastEnders exit is on the way as Charlie Suff is leaving after 2 years in the role of Johnny Carter.
Speaking to Radio Times, Metro, and other media, an EastEnders spokesperson confirmed the news: “We can confirm Charlie Suff will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Charlie is the third actor to take on the role of Johnny, following Sam Strike, who played him when the family arrived in Walford. Two years later, in April 2016, Johnny returned to Walford -this time played by Ted Reilly. He also left within two years, and in February 2024, under former executive producer Chris Clenshaw, Johnny returned once again, played by Charlie Suff.
The news comes just days after it was announced that Johnny’s mum Linda, played by Kellie Bright, is set to leave after 13 years, stating, “I have absolutely loved being part of the show, but I have decided that it is now the right time for me to say goodbye.”
The Sun reports that a return for Mick (Danny Dyer) for the exit storyline is unlikely, but “the door will be left open for them both to return one day.”
Kellie has been involved in some of the show’s most explosive and iconic storylines, and everyone at EastEnders will miss Kellie and Linda dearly. When Kellie told us of her decision last year to leave, we already had big plans for Linda, so we were delighted that Kellie agreed to stay on to see them through.
We’ve still got a long way to go before we say goodbye, but I can promise that Kellie’s exit storyline will be full of unmissable drama. I’d like to thank Kellie for her time here at EastEnders, and we wish her all the best for the future.”
