Home and Away airs on 5STAR at 6:30pm
After last night’s dinner, Alf has somewhat thawed towards Zane and gives him some advice about how to apply for the electoral role, because Zane’s never voted, another reminder of just how out of place he is outside of prison. At the Diner, Leah tells Zane that his first pay will land in his account soon. Zane is at a loss as to what to do with the money… he wants to chip in for groceries for Marilyn, but she insists he buy something for himself as a reward for all his hard work.
Marilyn and Zane return home after work to find Alf, and Marilyn explains that Zane helped diffuse a tense situation with a complaining customer, further proof that he is integrating well. Alf gets a call from Roo asking him to go to Merimbula for Martha’s birthday. Marilyn is excited for Alf, but he promptly dismisses the idea of going – he has too much to take care of in the Bay.
Remi lends Sonny support at the house while he undergoes steroid withdrawals. Sonny is spiralling with guilt and keeps trying to contact Dana who expressly asked for some space. Remi confiscates his phone, but Sonny begs Remi to reach out on his behalf and check whether she’s willing to have a conversation with Sonny. Remi relents and leaves a voicemail for Dana. Sonny keeps begging him to follow up on the voicemail, but Remi holds strong. Remi then receives a message from Dana requesting a meeting with Sonny.
Harper expresses her fears to Tane – that she will never feel safe again in the Bay knowing that Beau will eventually get out of prison. Dana and Tane arrive at Harper’s safe house to support her. Dana is masking her low mood, trying to be there for her sister, but Harper can tell something is off and makes her confide her relationship troubles.
After receiving Remi’s voicemail on behalf of Sonny, Tane questions Remi’s continued loyalty to Sonny, but Harper defends Sonny – he made a mistake, Dana should give him another chance. Dana meets Remi to discuss whether he thinks Sonny is capable of changing. Remi tells Dana that what Sonny wants more than anything is to spend the rest of his life with Dana, and she wouldn’t have called him if she didn’t feel the same.
Remi brings Dana over to talk privately with Sonny, and she tells him she’s willing to try to work through this. He’s a sore sight, clearly struggling through his recovery. Sonny tells her he’ll do anything he can to make it work between them. Dana goes to bed, exhausted, but promising to resume their discussion in the morning.
The next morning, Dana sees Sonny taking pills in the living room. She jumps to conclusions – he couldn’t go a single day without breaking his promise. Sonny reveals the pills were just pain killers for withdrawal headaches. An awkward moment between them as they both acknowledge just how fragile their relationship is.
