Corrie airs at 8.30pm on ITV1
Jodie is treading in incredibly dangerous territory by going after David! What is truly driving her to risk her entire family bond for him?
It’s all about her warped mind. Jodie has convinced herself that David symbolises her potential for future happiness. She’s lost the plot a little bit and truly believes David is the answer to all her wants and needs – which obviously isn’t reality! She’s just completely hooked on that idea now.
Is it really about David, or does she just want Shona’s life? Is there a sense of revenge there?
That’s exactly what it is. Jodie idolises Shona so much that she literally wants to step into her shoes, take over her life and know what that feels like. By taking over David, the house, the role with Harper – she genuinely wants to know how it feels to be Shona.
She loves her sister, but she wishes Shona had treated her differently throughout her life. There’s a deep need to get her own back and have some sort of revenge. As much as she cares about their relationship, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the happiness she feels she deserves.
She claims to David that “it’s always been about you” Does she actually envision a real future with him?
She really does. She sees David as the answer to everything. She’s convinced herself that if she gets him and takes over that life, she’ll finally be content. Little does she know that probably wouldn’t be the case at all.
Shona eventually delivers a stern ultimatum to back off. How does Jodie react when confronted with that level of raw anger?
She’s always got a trick up her sleeve. Confrontation puts her straight into fight-or-flight mode. She’ll either give it everything she’s got or just run.

Jodie has hints of a dark past. How dangerous is she when backed into a corner?
When pushed, you just don’t know what she’s capable of. She has a lot of dark secrets, she’s seen a lot and she has a genuinely sinister side to her. She’s driven herself completely crazy with this huge fantasy. It’s not rooted in reality anymore, she’s completely lost her marbles.
It started with petty jealousy, but now it’s full Single White Female – trying on the wedding dress, scratching Shona out of photos. Did she plan for it to go this far?
That bitterness and jealousy were always inside her. At first, she just played around with it to make herself feel a bit better, but I don’t think she realised how it would evolve into something she’d completely lose control of.
From swapping out her dad Doug’s medication to psychological manipulation, what has it been like playing such a calculating, dark character?
It’s sneaky and so much fun! Playing a character with a dark, sinister edge is great because I don’t get to do much of that in real life – or so I’d hope!
With Doug, she genuinely sees him as a threat who could pull the string that unravels all her plans. Jodie will do something dramatic and huge just to eliminate the tiniest threat. She doesn’t care; she’ll do whatever it takes because she’s in way over her head and doesn’t know where to draw the line anymore.
She uses Lily as a pawn, yet seems genuinely protective of her. Does she actually care about Lily?
She genuinely does care about Lily. She relates to Lily’s innocence and childlike qualities because Jodie has never really grown up herself. When Jodie feels genuine love from someone, she’ll go to extreme lengths to protect them.
That said, there’s definitely a competitive element with Shona. Jodie loves the feeling of being needed and she gets a thrill thinking Lily prefers her as the “cooler, funner” sister. She just wants to win.
When Jodie lets Lily take the blame for an incident at the Bistro, is there any real guilt there?
She feels genuine guilt about it, absolutely. At that moment, it was a desperate last resort. But Jodie rationalised it by telling herself that David would never turn his back on Lily and that Lily would be forgiven. She genuinely feels like she’s becoming a true mother figure to Lily – she’s completely going down a rabbit hole.

Things hit a boiling point this week when a gun is brought into the mix and someone gets shot. What was it like filming those scenes?
It was so exciting! It’s not every day at work that someone brings out a real weapon – with a professional gun handler on set to show you how to use it safely. When I read the script, I knew it could truly be anyone getting shot…
Without spoiling who ends up on the wrong side of the bullet, what can you tease about the aftermath?
It’s definitely been a long time coming for it to blow up between Jodie and Shona. Let’s just say… somebody is about to get their comeuppance and you’ll just need to watch to find out!
