“He has a bit of a strange manner, kind of a loner,” says a Jack Carroll, explaining Bobby’s initial suspicion of Roy Cropper. “But then you’ve got the whole Street fighting his corner – and viewers at home who’ve known him for years!”

Jack reveals the heartbreaking situation for fans: “We all know Roy’s a lovely fella, but we can’t intervene! It’s a big misunderstanding dragging his name through the mud.”

So when did Bobby change his tune? “There’s a sense the wheels are already in motion,” he admits. “Bobby jumped to conclusions and let the cat out of the bag before he had all the facts. He’s not a bad lad, but he’s impulsive and that’s been the problem.”

That impulsiveness led Bobby to a desperate act. “Yes, the false statement was a naive attempt to right his wrong,” he tells us. “It’s a bad move, but Bobby’s trying to fix his mistake and just makes things worse.”

Roy, ever the honest soul, wouldn’t have approved. “Bobby’s torn,” Jack explains. “He did it for the right reasons, but the wrong way. When questioned, he gets prickly – a bit of pride getting in the way of admitting he messed up.”

But could Bobby face the consequences? “Absolutely,” warns the newcomer. “DS Swain isn’t one to mess with, especially when she’s on the warpath.”

Even Carla, who’s grown fond of Bobby, can’t defend this. “She loves him like family,” he reveals, “but those same flaws are getting them both in legal trouble. This is serious – not just some sofa-sitting drama, but something with real repercussions.”
