Corrie’s Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) is set for a dramatic week as his interview on Amy’s radio show takes a fiery turn! “Bernie sets Paul up on the interview to lift his spirits,” Ash reveals, “but he gets heated about disability access and lets loose a swear word! He’s worried he’s landed Amy in trouble.”

Things go from bad to worse when Paul’s estranged father, Denny, shows up unexpectedly. “Without the MND diagnosis, Paul would’ve told him to do one,” says Ash. “But he’s dying and has a new outlook. He gives Denny a chance.”

However, Denny’s past as a violent drunk quickly resurfaces. “He leaves Paul alone after a pub trip,” Ash explains, “which leads to a bad coughing fit. Paul can’t even call an ambulance!”

Billy is none too pleased with Denny’s return. “Billy’s all about forgiveness,” says Ash, “but he’s furious when he finds out Denny took Paul drinking and messed with his neck support. Paul ends up sick, and Billy blames Denny.”

Bernie and Gemma aren’t exactly thrilled either. “Paul’s the most positive,” says Ash. “He’s running out of time and wants to make amends.”

Ash opens up about the challenges of portraying Paul’s worsening condition. “It’s physically easier in some ways,” he admits. “But I feel a responsibility to get it right.”

Coronation Street airs these scenes from Monday April 29th on ITV1
