Home and Away airs on 5STAR at 6:30pm
In the hospital Amelia has commenced blood transfusions for Eden and that will help her feel a bit better soon. Cash steps out to update Abigail and Mackenzie, explaining Eden’s condition is Aplastic Anaemia. At first Abigail is relieved it’s not cancer, but Levi explains the rare blood disorder can be severe, they’re going to need to keep it together for their sister. By Eden’s bedside, Levi remains positive – Eden’s young and has options to get through this. Cash excuses himself, heading home to make some arrangements, passing a deeply concerned Remi. Cash pulls himself together to tell him Eden is really not okay. As Cash enters the elevator alone, the reality and emotions hit him hard.
While Jo confronts Lacey about coming to terms with their father dating Amelia, David waits at Salt for Amelia to show up… but she’s not responding to his calls, and it appears as though he’s been stood up. He heads out past Jo and Lacey who notice he’s in his favourite shirt. The girls quiz Mackenzie who confirms he said he was supposed to be meeting someone, but she’s preoccupied with thoughts of Eden and doesn’t engage with their discussion over whether it was Amelia.
David arrives at the station to Cash who’s just put in a request for leave. David suggests it’s not a good time, but Cash is firm – Eden’s in hospital, she’s sick, and Cash is either taking leave, or quitting if necessary to be with her right now. David invites Cash into his office, promises to get Cash’s leave sorted and leaves him with a word of advice – focus on what he can control and don’t get caught up on what he did or didn’t notice about Eden’s health leading up to now. After Cash heads off, David finally connects with Amelia on the phone, figuring he knows the exact patient that’s needed Amelia’s full attention.
Unfortunately, he ends their call abruptly when Jo and Lacey walk in, Lacey arguing that Amelia’s not worth his time, but Jo defending her, wondering what’s stopping him asking her out again. David decides to meet Amelia as she finally finishes her shift and agrees to come with him for some food. Together on the beach they set down a blanket and enjoy some fish and chips. Amelia confesses she’s starting to feel like she doesn’t want to leave this town and David agrees – Summer Bay has a way of getting under your skin.
Now that Remi’s by Eden’s side, he’s frustrated that there’s not more Amelia can do. When he was going through treatment for his brain tumour, Eden was his rock, but now he feels totally useless and unable to help Eden and Cash, but Mackenzie reinforces all they can do right now is just be there for them. Remi apologises to Amelia for the way he spoke to her earlier, and she has to admit that Eden’s got some passionate people by her side.
In private, Eden admits to Levi that she’s scared, and he can’t promise she’ll be okay, but he can promise however it plays out, she won’t be alone. Back at Salt he debriefs with Mackenzie and Abigail, feeling what he’s going through with the recovery from his hand is nothing compared to what Eden’s facing…
