Home and Away airs on 5STAR at 6:30pm
Marilyn’s frustrated by Leah’s disregard for how much work it took Zane to send the letter to his victim, and Leah’s apology falls short. Justin tries to take a moment to justify Leah’s position to Marilyn – that she would never want to receive a letter from the man that killed Theo. After Zane reports in that he qualified for his ‘L’ plates, Roo also sends a text inviting Marilyn and Leah to a big party for Martha but Marilyn declines. She encourages Leah and Justin to go while she and Zane keep everything covered at the Diner.
Jo arrives home from work as David and Lacey are amidst their tense discussion and Lacey fills her in, holding up David’s wedding ring – highlighting the fact he is not wearing it. Jo insists she’s happy for their dad and this is his choice, which only frustrates Lacey that her sister is ‘picking sides’.
David takes a walk, leaving his daughters to chat. Jo’s stern, telling Lacey to stop being selfish and only later once she’s calmed down does she show her vulnerability. She doesn’t want their dad to be alone forever… but she misses their mum. The sisters share a tear but know their mother would want David to move on too.
Meanwhile, David meets with Amelia at Salt, apologising for the impulsive and opinionated Lacey and revealing it was the fact he has taken off his wedding ring that set her off. But he wants to keep moving forward with Amelia. Amelia agrees and slyly enters her motel room address into his phone. Then she dashes back to her room and rapidly tidies up the clothes strewn around the room, ensuring its spick and span in case David shows up.
Meanwhile, David returns to Lacey who apologises. He’s understanding and they get back on the same page. Lacey invites him to dinner, but David declines – he has plans, and he doesn’t think she wants to know what they are. Sure enough, David arrives at the door to Amelia’s motel room, and she answers before he can knock. They meet in the corridor, both bubbling with anticipation for the part that comes next…
In her hospital bed, Eden explains to Cash she’s feeling a little stronger but is continually woken up for more testing and wonders if they can get out of the hospital. She and Cash make the case to Amelia to go home, but Amelia explains the risk of infection outside the hospital could be much too great. She offers instead to speak to the specialist after Cash updates her with the bad news – he’s not a match to be Eden’s stem cell donor.
Amelia returns later with good news that Eden is allowed to be discharged, with conditions. She must isolate and avoid any exposure to potential infection. If she were to catch a cold, it could develop into pneumonia, and her chances of survival will be low.
Cash and Eden are prepared to follow the rules and soon enough they’re home and sharing a warm moment together. But when Cash finally has a moment alone for a shower, it’s clear he’s struggling. They discuss updating Levi and Abigail after they’ve had some time together, but Eden starts to get texts from Levi and Cash has to remind her that her family can’t visit – it’s too risky.
While Cash tries to make dinner, he’s receiving texts from Levi who is on his way to visit Eden, assuming she’s still in hospital. Meanwhile, Cash checks in on Eden who is quietly crying on the bed. Reality is hitting both of them very hard.
