Home and Away airs on 5STAR at 6:30pm
Remi shares with Tane his struggles over being cut out of Eden’s inner circle, and heads home. Sonny’s efforts to uplift him only end up with Remi shutting him down, reminding him Eden’s close to being on her death bed while Sonny only seems concerned with fun. When Sonny gets to Salt, Tane swallows his grudge against Sonny to give him some insight – Remi feels like he’s excluded from the family, and you’re his best mate, maybe you can talk to him.
Sonny joins Remi in a peaceful moment by the water and reminds Remi of the importance of ‘chosen family’. He thinks Remi’s got every right to be at Eden’s side.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Eden and Cash reminisce – grateful for their life together and dreaming of having another normal day. After a moment of quiet, Cash explains that Melanie passed away. They share a moment of grief – both for Melanie herself, and that little bit of hope they were holding out for. Remi and Sonny arrive and lift the mood by playing some Lyrik in the hospital room. Eden’s bolstered but still feeling stuck in her hospital bed.
Gary’s crashing at Cash and Eden’s, and when he arrives at the quiet house, he admires their wedding photo, and we see how worried he is for his foster son and daughter-in-law. David stops by and the two men meet for the first time. Gary catches David up on Eden being back in hospital and reflects that although their wedding was very special, you can never know how things are going to turn out.
That comment triggers memories for David too. That evening David and Amelia are looking forward to spending the night together at David’s place. But a cross with Gary, and a conversation between Amelia and Gary about Eden’s prognosis, sees David’s mood drop. He’s awkwardly quiet and when Amelia pressures him to open up, he cancels their night together. Amelia leaves confused and upset.
Alone at home, David looks at the photographs of he and his wife, reflecting on his own loss.
Tane opens up with Mackenzie about how much he’s struggling. He’s missing out on all this time with his son and she offers a suggestion. If he wants flexibility, she should hire a manager for the gym and go for much longer visits – weeks at a time if he wants to. Tane likes the suggestion, but it sparks a separate idea. On his way home, he pauses outside the closed gym doors pondering his future.
Alf questions how he is and Tane explains that – there’s nothing really keeping him in Summer Bay anymore. His home is wherever Archie is. Alf wonders if he’s thinking of leaving the Bay… and Tane admits it might be time.
