“Maybe this baby will be the making of you two” Chas to Aaron
There is no doubt that this year has been one roller coaster after another for Robron as they have had to deal with the consequences of their actions and sheer lack of communication as a couple. Now, on the other hand, their “new” relationship feels different. I didn’t have the same sort of reservations and trepidation after their recent reunion. Now that they are firmly set on being with one another and now that Aaron understands that Robert will always be a disaster, it is time for them to work through life as a pair.
Tonight we saw Rebecca give Seb to Robert and Aaron in order to keep him safe and give her time to heal, in whatever capacity that may be. Those scenes with Bex saying goodbye to Seb were difficult to sit through, no matter how often she may see him the sadness and defeat in her voice were startling. No parent ever wants to feel like they are unable to take care of their child, Bex for all her faults, doesn’t deserve to feel like a horrible mother. As an audience member, I feel for Bex on a human level, despite everything she has done over the past year and a half to garner a bad reputation. As I have said in previous posts, I’m not sure what is going to happen with Bex as her head injury storyline may quickly fade into the background, which isn’t something I want. I am glad Emmerdale are shedding light on what it is like to have a traumatic brain injury. I haven’t seen many soaps deal with this type of storyline and do it justice before, maybe Emmerdale will be different. With Chas trying to help her by giving her shifts at the pub next week, could Bex find trying to live a “normal” life too much to handle? Will she end up leaving to get help at a facility? Or will Emmerdale stick it out and show how someone with a brain injury learns to live a “normal” life?

My feelings about the entire Robron/Bex storyline have been plain and mostly positive. While I wasn’t a fan of the cheating aspect or the part where Aaron begins self-harming again, I understand why they went the route they did. I don’t think that because Robert has a child now, Emmerdale can’t still do a surrogacy or different storyline a few years down the road. There are still ample ways in which Robron can grow as a couple and as a family, there is no doubt they have their hands full with everything that is about to happen. Liv is set to face her day in court, Robert is at odds with Joe, and Aaron has someone from his past show up; if there was ever a time to throw the term overkill out, this would be it. This time when Robron has one thing after another thrown at them they’ll handle it as a unit and not individuals trying to put on a brave face.
I personally feel that Bex made the right decision giving Seb to Aaron and Robert, at least she knows that he will be cared for, I do want the giant elephant in the room to be addressed eventually. What is Aaron going to be to Seb and is Bex, as well as everyone else, going to acknowledge his role. Surely since Robron are getting married and right now Seb’s paternity hasn’t changed, this means that Aaron is going to be a big part of his life. I would like some sort of acknowledgment by all parties, it may save some issues down the line.
Sorry for the atypical review for tonight, the episode was amazing! I have some stuff I am sure I am going to want to say in regards to Liv’s storyline as it progresses. For now, I really want her to seek out help for what is going on before it is too late.
More soon!
