Sally’s secret relationship with Patrick intensifies as a near discovery raises the stakes, forcing Sally to confront the reality of what she has gotten involved with. As the pressure mounts, she unexpectedly grows closer to Carol after opening up about her insecurities. However, the more Carol connects with the family, the harder it becomes to conceal the truth, and she starts to question whether she should reveal what she knows about their mother.
Kaden faces mounting financial strain as he and Dan prepare for the arrival of their baby. The stress exposes cracks in their relationship, with Kaden lashing out at both Dan and their surrogate. It is revealed that he is severely behind on payments, prompting the surrogate to threaten legal action. Desperate to regain control, Kaden agrees to sell the family home at a significantly reduced price, only for a surveyor’s report to uncover severe subsidence, causing the buyer to pull out. With his situation spiralling, Kaden resorts to stealing a colleague’s work card in a reckless attempt to stay afloat.
As Carol searches for answers about Neil Barrie, she uncovers new information about the family’s past. A conversation with her father reveals that Moira and Joan were once friends, until a sudden and unexplained disagreement shortly before Joan’s disappearance. Carol also learns of a property where the Barrie family used to spend time and discovers postcards that point her towards Hawes as a possible location for Neil. Determined to uncover the truth, Carol travels to Hawes and breaks into the remote property, believing Neil to be hiding there. As she attempts to search the house, she hears someone return and tries to escape unnoticed.
