Episode Four

Monday, September 21st, 2026 on 5 at 9:00pm

Carol confronts Joan Barrie and demands to know why she abandoned her family. Joan reveals a painful and complex truth: Robert had been steadily pushing her out, isolating her within her own home until she found solace in Neil’s kindness. What began as emotional support became something more, though Joan insists she never intended to leave her children behind. Instead, Robert made the decision for her, cutting her out entirely and ensuring that Sally and Kaden would grow up without her. Yet Joan’s reappearance raises a far more urgent and chilling question – if she is alive, whose body did Carol and Moira dispose of?

That question begins to unravel when the body is washed up on the river bank. Dan is called to the scene and becomes immediately drawn into the case. As forensic work progresses, the investigation reveals a biological link to Kaden.

Elsewhere, pressure continues to mount on all sides. Kaden’s financial situation spirals as he struggles to meet the surrogate’s demands while keeping his failing circumstances hidden from Dan. He clings to the hope of selling the family home, seeing it as his last chance to regain control. Meanwhile, Sally attempts to distance herself from Patrick and the affair that has consumed her. Forming a connection with Anna, Patrick’s wife, pushes Sally further away from Patrick and toward a more honest version of herself.

Tensions come to a head during a family dinner, when Kaden arrives with news of a cash buyer willing to move quickly on the house. The announcement is met with mixed reactions, particularly from Carol, who is unsettled by the speed of the arrangement. When the buyer arrives, the situation takes a dramatic turn, standing at the door is Joan. Her intention to reclaim a place within the family, and quite literally within the home, sends shockwaves through them all.

Alone at Stable Row, Carol and Joan are locked in a tense and emotional confrontation. Years of resentment, suspicion, and grief surface as the two women clash over the past and what remains of the family. In the heat of the argument, Joan delivers a final, devastating revelation.
