Levi runs through Eden’s evolving aplastic anemia case with Abigail. The symptoms returned quicker than expected after her blood transfusion, likely due to an immune reaction. She’s now on immunosuppressant therapy to control it, which unfortunately increases her susceptibility to infections. Levi is frustrated that he’s getting surgery next week, he’d rather just focus on Eden.
Meanwhile, Cash is spending some quality time with Eden in the hospital. Amelia enters and informs them they’re about to start another transfusion, requested by the haematologist off the back of a low red blood cell count. Cash is asked to leave the hospital room, and David delivers him some food in a show of support. Amelia crosses with David in the hospital and their relationship is in a good place despite the difficult circumstances. Amelia then informs Eden and Cash about a potential path to recovery: a stem cell transplant. Finding a blood type match can be quite complicated. Siblings are usually the best bet, and if that fails, then they’ll divert to the global stem cell registry.
Cash and Eden agree – Amelia goes to inform the haematologist that they would like to proceed and Cash calls the Fowler siblings immediately, and they rush to the hospital. Amelia tells them that the siblings are their best bet for finding a donor. The Fowlers are heartened at a potential road to recovery – but Levi stifles a positive reaction. He explains to Abigail that she can’t donate because she was an IV drug user within the past five years. Abigail is distraught as she breaks the news to Eden. Eden then reads through the pamphlet and realises Levi isn’t going to be able to donate either…
Tane is at Sonny’s house, confronting him about his involvement in Harper and Archie leaving the Bay. Sonny goads Tane to hit him – he’d be doing him a favour; he couldn’t possibly hate him more than he hates himself right now. Remi arrives just in time to split the fight up. He manages to cool Tane, assuring him that he’ll manage Sonny. Tane leaves and Mackenzie goes to check on him. He’s spiralling with anger, blaming Sonny for Archie moving away. Mackenzie reassures him that he’s an incredible father – he’ll make it work with Archie, he always does.
Later, Sonny laments to Remi that he’s lost Dana’s trust forever. Remi is loyal to Sonny and supports him through it. Remi tries to buoy Sonny, who doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to reintegrate into the community after the betrayal he’s caused.
At that moment, David drives past and lets him know that the DDP has decided to drop his charges after his cooperation testifying against Beau. They head to the Surf Club for a game of pool and run into Tane again. Sonny sucks it up and apologises to Tane. Tane doesn’t accept Sonny’s apology. Sonny sits down with Remi and tells him that despite his uphill battle gaining acceptance in the community, he’s fully committed to turning his life around… Remi is proud of him.
